Steel & Aluminium
There are many applications for polyurethane and rubber parts in the manufacture of steel, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals. The main areas are:
- Cold rolling mills
- Continuous annealing lines
- Pickling lines
- Hot-zinc dipping lines
- Electrolytic tinning lines
- Galvanizing lines
- Chrome plating lines
- Coating lines
- Recoil and inspection lines
- Slitting lines
- Polishing lines
- Extrusion lines
In all of the abovementioned areas a great variety of polyurethane and/or rubber covered rollers are being used. LUC can offer a suitable material grade for each specific application. These will all have a good wear resistance and dynamic load bearing capacity, but besides that also special properties which make them exceptionally suitable for their application. This can for example be materials with high friction properties for bridle rollers, resistance against strong acids for squeeze rollers in pickling lines and high temperature resistance for deflector rollers In annealing lines.
Besides rollers a number of other specific applications for polyurethanes can be identified:
- Sleeves for (de)coiling
- Slitter rings
- Wheels for strip turners
- Wear plates
- Protective parts for coil handling equipment
