From May 5–8, LUC Group had the pleasure of attending the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2025 in Houston, Texas. As one of the largest global gatherings for offshore energy professionals, OTC was the perfect stage to connect with partners, clients, and innovators in the industry.

A History of Excellence Since 1971

LUC Group has been a pioneer in polyurethane (PU) elastomers since its founding by Mr. and Mrs. Winkens on June 6, 1971, in Brunssum, The Netherlands. With Mr. Winkens’ expertise in polyurethane chemistry and Mrs. Winkens’ business acumen, the company quickly grew from a small operation into one of the leading manufacturers of polyurethane components in Europe.

Polyurethane elastomers, known for combining the strength of plastic with the elasticity of rubber, has become an essential material in many industries. At LUC, we have developed proprietary polyurethane formulations that exceed traditional rubber and thermoplastic materials in durability and performance.

Over the years, we have expanded our presence across Europe and beyond, continuously investing in research, new formulations, and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Today, LUC Group is a global player with production sites in multiple countries, serving industries such as offshore energy, steel & aluminium mills, amusement parks, logistics, food processing, and many more.

Our Global Expansion

With increasing demand for high-quality polyurethane products, LUC Group has expanded across multiple countries:

🔹 On 6 June 1971 Mr. and Mrs. Winkens founded the company Limburgse Urethaan Chemie BV in Brunssum, The Netherlands.
🔹 1980, The Netherlands – Expansion of the Brunssum facility, which after further expansions now covers 6,000 m², making it the largest plant of its kind in the Netherlands.
🔹 1993, Belgium – A new production plant was opened in Maasmechelen, after later expansions now covering 6,000 m², focusing on larger polyurethane roller coverings.
🔹 1993, Germany – LUC Urethan Kunststoff GmbH was founded in Neuss, later relocating to Jüchen, to support sales and service in German-speaking countries.
🔹 2000, Hungary – A production plant in Piliscsaba was established to serve Eastern Europe, later moving to Esztergom and in 2003 expanding to a 1,000 m² facility.
🔹 2005, UK – LUC acquired South Wales Roller Company in Newport, Wales, integrating rubber roller coverings into our product range. In 2009, operations moved to a new1,200 m² facility in Dowlais.
🔹 2014, USA – LUC expanded across the Atlantic, establishing LUC Urethanes, Inc. in Conroe, Texas, opening a 1,850 m² production plant in 2015.

LUC specializes in hot-cast and cured polyurethane elastomers, processing both classic polyurethane systems—such as Vulkollan®, Adiprene®, and Baytec®—as well as our own proprietary materials, including:

By carefully selecting polyols (polyether, polyester and others), diisocyanates (TDI, MDI, NDI, PPDI, CHDI and others), and different cross-linking agents, we tailor polyurethane materials to meet the most demanding industrial applications. With our expertise in polyurethane formulation and material customization, we have proudly held a Vulkollan license since 1974.
